Privacy Policy

Last updated September 27, 2026

This app ("LiT") is provided by Brightaday LLC. Protecting your personal data is important to us. This privacy policy explains what data the app processes, who processes it, and how long it is kept.

1. In Short

LiT does not ask for your name, email address or an account. Instead, the app creates a random ID on your device, so we cannot tell who you are.

We never store your photos on our servers. Photos are only sent to image recognition services to analyse them, and they stay on your device.

2. Data We Process

App ID: a random identifier created on your device when you first open the app. We use it to apply the daily scan limit and to connect purchases to your device.

IP address: stored together with a record of each scan, so that the daily scan limit cannot be avoided by resetting the app.

Usage counts: how many scans, translations and similar actions have been made with an app ID.

We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, contacts, your location or advertising identifiers, and the app contains no analytics or tracking tools.

3. Your Photos

When you scan an object or a text, the photo is sent to our server and passed on to image recognition services, only to analyse it. We never store your photos on our servers and do not keep copies of them.

Photos of objects are analysed by Google Cloud Vision and OpenAI. Photos of text are analysed by Microsoft Azure AI Vision. These providers process a photo only to return the result and do not use it to train their models. Some keep request data for a limited time, at most 30 days, for security and abuse monitoring, and then delete it.

Your photos are saved only on your device, in the app's history. You can delete them there at any time, and deleting the app removes them completely.

4. Text, Translations and Audio

Text recognised in your photos, and text you type in, is sent to language services to translate it, explain words and create spoken audio: DeepL, Google Cloud Translation, OpenAI and Microsoft Azure AI Speech. These providers do not use it to train their models.

The spoken audio of a scanned text is stored with our hosting provider under a random file name, so that you can replay the lesson later.

Words and sentences you ask us to translate or explain are logged together with the answer, without your app ID, so that we can check and improve translation quality.

5. Hosting and Service Providers

Our server runs on Vercel, and our database is hosted by MongoDB Atlas. Besides the providers named above, subscriptions are managed by RevenueCat, which receives your app ID and your purchase status.

Some of these providers are based in the United States, so your data may be processed there. We only share what each provider needs to do its job.

6. In-App Purchases

The app offers in-app purchases for a premium version. These purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not have access to your payment information.

7. Planned Advertising (AdMob)

In future versions of the app, we plan to integrate Google AdMob. Google may process certain data such as device information, IP address, user behavior, and advertising identifiers (e.g., IDFA). We will update this policy before that happens. For more information, please see the Google Privacy Policy.

8. External Links

Our app does not contain any external links through which personal data could be shared.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of data connected to your app ID. Because we cannot identify you by name, we may need your help to find your data.

Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device, including your photos and history.
